The Fedex Cup

Wow! Who would have thought Phil Mickelson would have come from so far off the pace to shoot a 65 and win Sunday's concluding tournament for the Fedex Cup? It's not that he isn't a terrific golfer, but with many of the world's greatest players available for the match, it seemed highly unlikely that anybody would make such a charge on Sunday. Leave it to Phil who has a penchant for the dramatic, and after what he has gone through this year with his familial issues, it couldn't have gone to a better guy. Congratulations Phil.

Fedex Cup

Well it's down to the wire with the leading contenders at the FEDEX Cup playing the last real weekend of golf this year. Kenny Perry is currently out in front with Padraig Harrington and Tiger Woods lurking in the shadows a couple of shots off the pace. This looks like a great finish for television this weekend. Hopefully it won't be a runaway for anybody and this makes for more riveting golf. Best of luck gentlemen!

Are You Thinking about New Clubs?

Now is the perfect time to think about next year. Most golfing manufacturers are starting to move their inventory out and make room for either Winter sports or next years new golf equipment. That is good news for you since many of these items will be priced to move. Brand name clubs at deep discounts means excellent news for your wallet since that special set of clubs is just waiting to be evaluated. Start your search now for next year and take a look at some of the clearance items that may be a good fit for your bag.

Does anybody watch golf after the PGA is over?

I find it hard to watch the PGA tour after the last major is over. Most of the events - save the players championship seem to be so contrived or made for TV. You know that some of these guys are just in it to earn some extra money to make the top 100 list for next year. Although this gets them a lot of juice with sponsors, it's just not compelling television. We need another competition of sorts to make up for the drought between now and the next Master's championship at Augusta National.

Do you Need a Single Specialty Club?

Most players today have the need for one specialty club in their bag without even realizing it. How often do you come up short of the green and have a hazard in the way? Wouldn't that 60 degree lob wedge come handy at that point? How about those long irons that you just can't seem to hit. Maybe one hybrid club would ease your pain. Just take a good look at your overall game and pinpoint the biggest weakness. Maybe by adding one specialty club, you could lower your score by a couple of shots. Every little bit helps there. You can find single golf clubs by clicking here!

Congratulations to Steve Stricker on his great win in Boston this weekend. He is a class act, always deflecting attention from himself. I wish there were more golfer on the current tour with his ego. Would be a nice change from some of the behavior that is seen nowadays.
