Find the right golf ball
If you have been golfing a long time, then it's a certainty that you have a favorite ball. This may be based on price or just something that you feel comfortable in playing a particular brand. The average hacker could probably play any type of ball and score equally well. However, if you want to aim for a lower total on your scorecard, then consider what type of shot you normally hit. If you hit the ball high or hit the ball long, there is a specific type of ball that is custom made for you. The numerous manufacturers in the golf ball business are constantly tweaking their product to appeal not only to the pros, but also the well-meaning amateur. If price is holding you back on switching balls, consider end of season sales and discount retailers who may have an end of the season sale that you can "steal a deal" on some new balls. It doesn't hurt to try, especially when the price is right.

Get the Right Golf Equipment
Whether you are a seasoned golfer or a beginner, it is important at some point to get fitted for a set of clubs. Not only will you enjoy the game more, but your score will probably improve by 5 shots per round. Most amateurs aren't aware of the importance of this session. Golf clubs are manufactured to certain specifications and have different shaft lengths, toe angles and bounce. These are made for a particular golfer. For example a six foot three inch man wouldn't use the same set of clubs as a guy who in only five foot seven inches. That should make sense. The hardest part is the iron angle, when properly fitted, the entire sole of the club will lay flat on the ground with the proper grip. Too often, clubs are bought off the rack and players use them and wonder why they can't score well. Now you know at least part of the reason.
